It was sometime during 2013-14 slowdown that our organization was downsizing
Mahesh was a very senior guy heading Bancassurance
He was one of those asked to leave. Mahesh was loved by most people in the company. Generous, humble, kind & helpful, he was one of the nicest human beings I knew
During one of my meetings with Mahesh I had seen a cheque on his table for 1 lakh rupees addressed to ‘Nanhi Kali’ foundation
Nanhi Kali is an NGO for girl child education. Later I found out that he donated this amount every quarter & also kept a track on the progress of the children whom his donation funded
When he was fired, I wondered where is Karma?
Within a few months Mahesh set up his own #startup centered around financial tools
Fascinated by his father's copious records of grocery prices and household budgets of over 20 years his tool gave people an exact insight into inflation of products
He along with another colleague who was fired, together invested into this start-up
The start-up went through its share of struggles initially but 15 months later, they were acquired by an American multinational #massmedia group for over 50 MN
When I read that news, it reminded me of the fact that life is such an equalizer!
What goes around does come back! It's all accounted for!
